  • A Message from the MHPG and ASRM on Coping During the COVID-19 Pandemic

    Announcements
The MHPG joins ASRM in recognizing that the COVID-19 pandemic is a global threat that will affect all ASRM members. Indeed it will affect every single person on our planet. No one will be untouched. The threat of the virus is compounded by the additional challenges of social isolation, governmental mandates, restrictions on travel, financial collapse, and the contagious nature of anxiety, fear, and panic. In some areas, xenophobia, too, has taken a hold as people struggle to find a reason why this is happening. There are dangers of falling into despair and hopelessness. There are opportunities for the development of resilience and post traumatic growth.

    Announcements
Our goal during the COVID-19 pandemic is to provide guidance and recommendations regarding reproductive surgery to our members and their patients in a clear, timely, and accurate manner. • Update #1 Released to the ASRM Patient Management and Clinical Recommendations During The Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic

    Announcements
The ASRM Task Force continues to emphasize that infertility is a disease, and infertility care is not elective. The treatment of infertility, as well as the treatment of many other critical diseases, including cancer treatment, other gynecologic surgery, and organ transplantation, are being postponed in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. The use of the words “elective surgery” generally refers to surgery that can be delayed for a period of time without undue risk to the patient.
  • COVID-19: Ways to Care for Yourself

    Announcements
Most of us were drawn to this profession because we are “helpers.” We tend to give to others before taking care of ourselves. Many of us are juggling homeschooling children, taking care of our households, worrying about the health of loved ones, and dealing with financial concerns. This can lead to caregiver burnout, putting us at risk for mental health issues and challenges to our own immune systems. This document is intended to be a reminder of ways to stay balanced so that we can remain resilient in the face of this extraordinary time.
  • ASRM Coding Committee Weighs in on Telehealth

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed daily life and medical practice in unimaginable ways. To attempt to control the spread of this virus, in-person medical care has become limited, based on medical necessity. This abrupt and necessary change in medical practice impacts the reproductive medicine community – where face-to-face conversations and frequent monitoring of fertility treatment cycles is the norm.
  • COVID-19: Staff and Clinical Practice Sustainability During the Pandemic

    Announcements
Recognizing the impact of this pandemic on our clinics and programs in reproductive medicine, ASRM staff in Washington DC have already been in touch with policy makers as they design programs for government relief and support. We also are working with the AMA and others to make sure our elected officials understand the needs of our medical practices as they draft legislation.
